M/S Arcadia Shipping Ltd., in the year 1985, diversified their shipping activities into Barging / Lighterage activities by initially acquiring 3 self propelled barges and working as a Sub-Contractor for 2 yrs to M/S Gujrat State Fertilizer Corporation for the Lighterage of Rock Phosphate, Sulphur, etc on a total turnkey basis Stevedoring, Barging and Loading of materials in transporter's trucks at Magdalla. The company has further strengthened their Lighterage and coastal operations by acquiring more Self Propelled Barges of various capacities and also chartering few barges on long term to augment the existing fleet to cater to the needs of the various contracts. At present, the company owns four self propelled barges of capacities ranging from 500 Tonnes to 1200 Tonnes.
